Frequently asked questions
What is a Discord embed?
An embed is a rich message block with a colored side bar, title, description, fields, images, an author line and a footer. Bots and webhooks can send embeds; regular user accounts cannot.
How do I send an embed without a bot?
Create a webhook in your channel settings (Integrations → Webhooks), copy its URL, log in here and use Send to Discord. The message is posted through the webhook, so no bot is needed.
How do I use the JSON in my bot?
The JSON tab is the raw Discord API message body. Pass it to any library that sends messages, POST it to a webhook URL, or paste it back into the Import JSON dialog to keep editing.
Does the discord.js code work with discord.js v14?
Yes. The code uses EmbedBuilder, ActionRowBuilder, ButtonBuilder and the select menu builders from discord.js v14. When the message has interactive components it also includes an interactionCreate handler you can fill in.
Can I add buttons and select menus?
Yes, after logging in. You can add up to 5 rows, each with up to 5 buttons (primary, secondary, success, danger or link) or one select menu for custom options, users, roles, users and roles, or channels.
How many characters can a Discord embed have?
A title can be 256 characters, a description 4096, a field name 256 and a field value 1024. All embeds in one message share a 6000 character total, and a message can hold up to 10 embeds and 25 fields per embed.
Can I use markdown in embeds?
Yes. Descriptions and field values support bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, inline code, code blocks, masked links, headings, quotes, lists and spoilers. Titles and field names support inline formatting only.
Is my work saved?
Your design is saved automatically in this browser. Webhook URLs are never saved, because anyone with the URL can post to your channel.
