Terms of Service
The rules of the road for using Strom. We've kept the legalese to a minimum — plain-English summaries are included throughout.
Acceptance of Terms
By inviting Strom ("the Bot") to your Discord server, accessing our website at strombot.com, or using any of our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you are accepting on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to do so.
These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "Server Administrator", or "you") and Strom Inc. ("Strom", "we", "us", or "our"). Please read them carefully.
Quick version: Use Strom responsibly, don't abuse the service, pay your subscription on time, and don't do anything that would get your Discord account banned. That covers 90% of it.
Eligibility & Account
To use Strom you must:
- Be at least 13 years of age (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction)
- Have a valid Discord account in good standing
- Have the "Manage Server" permission or be the owner of any server you add the Bot to
- Not be prohibited from using the service under applicable law
- Provide accurate information when creating a paid account
Your Discord account serves as your identity with Strom. You are responsible for all activity that occurs through your Discord account in connection with the Bot. If your Discord account is suspended or terminated, your access to Strom may also be suspended.
Subscriptions & Billing
Strom offers paid subscription plans in addition to the free tier. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.
Billing Cycle
Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually depending on your selection at checkout. Annual subscriptions are charged in full at the start of each billing year. All prices are in USD and exclude applicable taxes.
Upgrades & Downgrades
Upgrades take effect immediately; you will be charged a prorated amount for the remainder of the current billing period. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access to your current plan until then.
Refunds
Failed Payments
If a payment fails, we will retry up to three times over seven days. After three failed attempts, your subscription will be downgraded to the free tier and your premium features will be suspended until payment is resolved.
Acceptable Use
You may use Strom only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. The following are strictly prohibited:
Using the bot to send unsolicited messages, spam channels, or flood the API.
Deploying the bot in guilds that promote hate speech, harassment, or illegal activity.
Attempting to decompile, disassemble, or extract the bot source code.
Using scripts or bots to artificially inflate XP, exploit commands, or circumvent rate limits.
Sharing API keys, dashboard credentials, or bypassing authentication.
Intentionally causing disproportionate load on our infrastructure.
Violation of the Acceptable Use Policy may result in immediate termination of your account without refund and potential reporting to Discord Trust & Safety.
Intellectual Property
Our IP
Strom and its original content, features, and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of Strom Inc. and its licensors. Our trademarks and trade dress may not be used in connection with any product or service without prior written consent.
Your Content
You retain ownership of any content you configure through the bot (welcome messages, custom commands, embed text, etc.). By providing this content, you grant Strom a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use it solely for the purpose of delivering the service.
Feedback
Any feedback, suggestions, or ideas you share with us may be used by Strom without restriction or compensation to you. You waive any moral rights in such feedback to the extent permitted by law.
Termination
By You
You may cancel your subscription at any time from your dashboard or by emailing billing@strombot.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You may remove the bot from your server at any time, which immediately suspends data collection.
By Us
We may suspend or terminate your access to Strom immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any of the following reasons:
- Breach of any provision of these Terms
- Conduct that we determine is harmful to other users or the service
- Non-payment of subscription fees after the retry period
- Your Discord account being suspended or banned by Discord
- Fraudulent or illegal activity connected to your account
Effect of Termination
Upon termination, your right to use the service immediately ceases. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including IP rights, disclaimers, indemnity, and limitations of liability — will survive.
Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
Strom DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE RESULTS OBTAINED FROM USING THE SERVICE WILL BE ACCURATE OR RELIABLE.
We make no representations about the suitability of the service for any particular purpose. Discord's own terms of service apply to your use of the Discord platform itself — Strom is an independent service and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Discord Inc.
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL Strom INC., ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, PARTNERS, AGENTS, SUPPLIERS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM:
- Your access to or use of (or inability to access or use) the service
- Any conduct or content of any third party on the service
- Any content obtained from the service
- Unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your data
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the claim, or (b) USD $100.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Strom Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, awards, losses, costs, expenses, or fees (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to:
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your use of the service in a manner not authorised by these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property or privacy rights
- Any content you submit, post, or transmit through the service
Governing Law & Disputes
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Dispute Resolution
We encourage you to contact us first at legal@strombot.com to resolve any dispute informally. If informal resolution fails, disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association rules, rather than in court.
Class Action Waiver
You agree that any arbitration will be conducted on an individual basis and not as a class, consolidated, or representative action. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.
Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by:
- Posting the updated Terms on this page with a revised "Last updated" date
- Sending a notification via the Bot to server administrators
- Sending an email to the address associated with your paid account
Changes become effective 14 days after posting (or immediately for changes required by law). Your continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the service and cancel any subscription.
